Chevrolet Repair: loss oil pressure and stalling, oil pressure switch, autohelp

Question
We have a 2000 Express Van.  Recently a new oil pan was installed because the bolt was stripped.  That was about 3000 miles ago.  We had an oil change just afterward.  We have been traveling since (highway miles).  We drove about 20 miles, shut engine off for approx. 30 minutes.  Then after restart, put in reverse, engine stalled.  Restarted, then stalled again after I took my foot off the gas.  I restarted again and kept engine rpms up and it stayed running.  But would stop everytime I let rpms get too low.  I don't have a guage for rpms.  Oil pressure would drop as we slowed down and let rpm's slow, then engine would die.  What are my possibilities?  We are supposed to be traveling 1200 miles tomorrow night.  Any info would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
Depending upon how LOW the oil pressure is getting if it gets approx less than 10 lbs the oil pressure switch will command the vehicles computer to turn OFF the engine in order to prevent engine damage.

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as an electrical connector may have been knocked loose. Look around in the area where work was performed.

It is also possible that the WRONG oil pan was installed IF it was replaced with a new or different one as some oil pans are DEEPER in depth than others and this can cause the oil pickup screen to be jambed against the bottom of the oil pan if the pan is NOT DEEP enough.
