Chrysler Repair: 01 Chrysler LHS shifter cable

Question
QUESTION: My husband is going to attempt to replace my gear shift cable and I had seen where someone said its about 12 steps.  Could someone tell me those steps, I really need this to go as smoothly as possible because my husband does not like working on my car.  There is no room for problems please :) thank you

ANSWER: Hi Tabi,
I may be able to send you the pages from the Chrysler service manual about this job. But can you tell me is this the cable that runs to the transmission and actually shifts the gears or is it the so-called "interlock cable" that makes sure that you are in P or N for the key to move to the starter position?
And can you tell me if the gear shift lever is on the steering column or mounted on the floor?
I have the '04 manual on a CD which I can copy pages from and send to you directly by email. So if you want those tell me your email address. But when you do don't use the @ symbol, rather use "at" or the address will be erased automatically from your follow-up question.
Please read the PS (below) and respond to it.
Thanks for doing that,
Roland

QUESTION: Yes it is the actual gear shift cable to shift and it is on the console not on the steering column :) all help is GREATLY APPRECIATED Roland :) thank you so much and my email address is tabi_cunningham at me.com :)

Answer
Thanks for the rating and nomination, Tabi. I will copy the pages and send them now. If there is a significant difference between what is shown and what he finds then I do have a hard copy of the '98 manual which I can photocopy and postal mail to you. But let us start with these.
