Chrysler Repair: Leaking Coolant under minivan, passenger side, coolant hose, system hoses

Question
I have a 1999 Town & Country Lxi 3.8. My van started overheating while the a/c was running & I noticed coolant leaking under the van on the passenger side. When I turned the a/c off it stopped. It has not leaked while keeping the a/c off. What is causing this?

Answer
Hi Bob,
I would believe that as the temperature in system rose that pressure in the cooling system was elevated such as to exacerbate a loose coolant hose clamp such that it started to leak. Check along the cooling system hoses that supply the rear ac/heater unit to see if you can locate a loose hose clamp or fatigued hose. The lines run along the underbody on the passenger side of the van, and have sections that are connected by clamps and quick releases.
