Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler Sebring Ltd Convert - cluster lights, soldering pencil, chrysler sebring

Question
Last night cluster lights (speedo/tach/fuel/water only) were out. Headlight stalk IP rheostat controlled the center console bright to dim to out just fine.

Checked fuses today all seemed intact (inverted V, fuse inside, wasn't broken but didn't use ohm meter yet). From Owner manual, cavity 7 (IP cluster illum, park and tail lights) 20 amp - all exterior lights lit up.  I think back of dash access panel showed power mirrors on this fuse - they work.

Can't believe all lights burned out at same time but ...

Ideas?  please   Thanks Mike

Answer
Hi Mike
The illumination voltage comes to the instrument cluster from the body control module on pin 12 of the cluster plug (orange wire). As you noticed the other panel lights were working properly because they get separate wires from other locations on the body control module. I would suspect that there is a cold solder joint between the circuit board and the socket pin 12. If you rap on the top of the cluster the lights may come back on. Otherwise, send me  a follow-up, and use the private option, in which you tell me your email address. I will copy and send a page as an attachment that tells you how to remove the cluster so you can check out the solder joint and reheat it with a soldering pencil.
