Chrysler Repair: 95 2.5L V-6: poor gas mileage/ codes 32, 21, inner tie rods, outer tie rods

Question
QUESTION: i took my 95 chrysler cirrus to have it alignment today an the repair guy told me that they were having problem with the alignment.he said they couldn't get it to stay in the specs. so he check the inner an outer tie rods an said that i need the inner tie rods replace at $400.what would that cause the alignment to not say in the specs or not?  help help

ANSWER: Hi James,
Looseness in the tie rods affects the toe-in setting of the front wheels, but the cost for replacement seems extreme. I would have them set toe as close to true as possible and see how it drives. The main effect is road 'wander' or tire tread 'scuffing' on the edges. I suspect that other suspension wear is present too so even if you did the job it still might not steer like new.
The toe-in specification is between 0.1 degree out to 0.3 degree in with a preferred setting of 0.1 degree in. You could ask them to set it as close to 0.1 degree in and to tell you how far 'off the mark' the toe in varies due to the looseness. Then compare that to the 'extreme' values of the specification.

QUESTION: Thanks Roland am go to have that done to see if that help or fix it all together .but i have another problem an that is the same car its been burnning  fuel . i put 20.00 in 12-9-10 an now 12-10-10 am at a half tank what could i do to fix this . i will rate you by the weekend on the first matter.thanks james

ANSWER: Hi James,
Do a code readout using the ignition key: on-off-on-off-on and leave, doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on' to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the nubmer of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to assure an accuate set of flash counts. Tell me the counts in order of appearance and we'll go from there.

QUESTION: hi roland,  well i did the key on key off the codes come up 32 ,21,21.there's one more thing i would like to know an that is what seize of wire that the injector run off. thanks james

Answer
Hi James,
The 32 code means the egr (exhaust gas recirculation valve) is not opening and closing properly. I would try lubricating the valve stem with some WD-40 where it enters the body of the valve and working it back and forth with a screw driver inserted in the slot of the stem. You will find it in the area just below the oil filler cap if this is the 2.5L V-6. The stem is in the flange area between the round vacuum-operated top of the valve assembly and the body of the valve proper which is mounted in a pipe that comes from the front exhaust manifold over to the area of the throttle body.
The two 21 codes are saying that the heated oxygen sensors are not working (because of the double codes it may mean that both sensors are bad). You can check the wires (which are fragile) at both sensors and see if they are damaged but even if they are not the code(s) probably means you should replace both of them (upstream and downstream).
Those codes are probably the reason for poor gas mileage.
Wire used for the injector electrical connection is 18 gauge.
