Chrysler Repair: Location of Camshaft sensor: 91 3.3L, timing chain cover, chrysler new yorker

Question
Hi,

I have a 1991 Chrysler New Yorker - Salon 3.3 V6. I bought a Hayes repair manual and just love the little no good pics! Can you please telling me where the camshaft sensor is located in terms I can understand. The book is showing me it is on the timing chain cover, which I do not see.

Answer
Hi Shirley,
I assume that you have the Haynes #25020 manual.  If you will look on page 6-6, illustration 2.8, you will see a close-up of the sensor location on the top of the timing chain cover which is located on the front of the engine (the side that faces the right wheel). To get a larger perspective of where it is, look at page 2C-10, illustration 13.13, where you will see at the very top edge of that illustration the location of the sensor, to the left of the arrow that points to a bolt and to the right of the round pulley. In contrast to the first photo, you will notice that it is tilted slightly counterclockwise rather than vertical in orientation as that photo might suggest. But you will see it and its ribbed wire connector just at the upper edge of the photo.
