Chrysler Repair: 00 Chrysler JXI Sebring convertible; stumble/no start , 4 digit numbers, wd 40

Question
Today I suddenly started to lose power as I was driving.  When I restated the car it sputters and stalls.  Culd it be the catalytic converter or something else?  If so, in terms of the cost of repairs, what would it cost to replace the catalytic converter including parts and labor?  Thank you.

Answer
I would not suspect the converter.
I would instead look at the egr valve to be sure that it isn't stuck slightly ajar. It is located under and near the oil fill cap and has a rod hidden behind a flange that separates its two parts. Put a screwdriver in the slot of the rod, which is the valve stem and move it back and forth to be sure the internal spring-action is closing the valve tightly to a dead stop. If it doesn't, then spray some WD-40 on the stem where it enters the valve body of the egr valve and work the stem back and forth some more.
Other than that you would want to get the fault codes that might be store in the computer memory. "On-off-on-off-on and leave on" using the ignition key, doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if it shows and 4-digit numbers which are fault codes. Tell me what they are and we'll go from there.
