Chrysler Repair: Code 0303, engine oil pan, solenoid pack

Question
QUESTION: What is the location of the solenoid pack. Does the engine oil pan have to be removed to access it?

ANSWER: Hi Steve,
It is internal, above the filter, and attached to the valve body.
Yes, you have to remove the oil pan and drop out the valve body to then get the solenoid pack off of the valve body. I can copy a few pages off a CD about the steps for doing this but I can only email them back to you. So if you would like them, send me a follow-up question using the private option to give me your email address.

QUESTION: I have a 1998 Olds 88 with the check engine light on and a 303 code. Can you help with this? Also, what is the plug gap on this engine. 3800 Series II. The way my week has been it couldn't anything easy.

Answer
Hi Steve,
Assuming the codes were identical across US manufacturers in '98 the 0303 would be a misfiring of your #3 cylinder. The possibilites are many: plug, injector, compression (valves/rings) on that cylinder to start with. I don't know the gap but most parts stores do list in the data base they maintain.
