Chrysler Repair: fuel filter? engine stumbles/stalls, chrysler sebring convertible, 4 digit numbers

Question
where is the fuel filter located on a 99 chrysler sebring convertible 2.5 liter engine? the problem i am having is when i put gas in the car doesn't keep running and other times i have to hold the gas peddle to keep it running.

Answer
Hi Cathy,
The only filter is part of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. And I don't believe that would be your problem in any case.
The best thing to do is see if the engine computer has recognized the cause of your problem and stored a code number in the memory. Turn your ignition key as follows: 'on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window of the dash to see if the mileage reading changes to show any 4-digit numbers preceded by a P. If so let me know what they are. If not, then you might go to an Autozone Parts Store for a free code readout using a plug-in reader and get the codes that way. Once we have a code we can figure out what to do to solve the problem.
