Is the 2.4 engine in a 2004 PT Cruser a close tolerance engine?  If the timing belts stretches will it hurt the valves?

Hi Russ,
The engine is 'free wheeling' so that the pistons and valves won't interfere. However if the camshafts are rotated independently there can be valve-to-valve interference. I am not sure whether stretching alone can allow for that sort of interference to occur.
