Chrysler Repair: 04 Pacifica: code 0522, powertrain control module, gear indicator

Question
QUESTION: I have an 04 Pacifica with just under 70K miles.  I've had the trans range sensor replaced just one week ago but I still have the same problem.  The problem is that the car will not start and the gear indicator indicates that the car is in all gears at the same time.  The message board reads "car not in park".  What could be causing this issue?  Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

ANSWER: Hi Jay,
If you still have the problem let me know as there is a
"PRNDL fault code clearing procedure" that I can type in for you to try.
Otherwise:
I would begin by checking the wires between the transmission range selector plug on the transmission and the powertrain control module. The pin connections are as follows:

PCM plug          Range sensor plug
27          5 and 10 (also notice splice nearby)
 37          9
 16          8
 15          7
 34          3

The PCM plug in question has 38 pins and is black in color outside but if you remove it you will find the the interior around the pins is green. The pcm is located in the left front corner of the engine compartment and it has 4 similar plugs arranged vertically, and the plug in question is the top-most plug.  The plug on the transmission is dark gray and has 10 pins. Also check that the splice of the wires on pins 5 and 10 near the range sensor plug.
Physically inspect the wires for melting of the insulation and also verify that the wires do not measure a short to ground when the plugs at either end are unplugged from their receptacles.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred by the other expert. Please let me know what you find out. If you would be so kind as to 'rate' this answer and consider a 'yes' where you see the question about 'volunteer of the month' I would be most appreciative.

QUESTION: also, when I try to start the car, code P0522 shows up just under the gear indictor.  What does that code mean or stand for?  Thanks for assisting

Answer
The 0522 is alerting you to the possibility that the oil pressure warning light system may be not functioning properly either due to the pressure sensor itself beginning to fail or the wire from the sensor to the pcm is shorted to ground. The sensor is located near the oil filter and the violet/gray wire goes from its tip to pin 20 of the pcm plug #1 which is the second one just below the plug #4 that I described earlier. The code might also mean that your oil pressure is below 5 psi when the engine is idling, but if the light goes out when you reve the engine then that would be ok.

PS what happened with the earlier trans problem?
