Chrysler Repair: 300M 3.5L rough idle:intake manifold, camshaft position sensor, 4 digit numbers

Question
Roland, I thank you for your guidance in replacing my camshaft position sensor.  I loosened the upper intake manifold and was able to gain access to the sensor and the replacement was successful.  I no longer experience stalling at freeway speeds and no more CELs.  However, since the repair, my 300M is idling rough.  I looked around to verify that I hadn't inadvertently loosened a vacuum hose and didn't find anything out of place.  Could it be that I no longer have a good seal on the manifold?  Please let me know your thoughts in what could be causing this rough idle issue.  Thanks in advance!

Chuck

Answer
Hi Chuck,
It is possible that there is a slight air leak at the manifold seam, but try for a fault code readout and see if the controller notices anything*. Did you have a torque wrench to reset the torque on the bolts that you loosened? You could check all those but don't torque them without some sort of a gauge so as not to break one. The torque for the 7 manifold main bolts is 105 inch-pounds, and the gasket is reuseable so I doubt it could have been damaged. You could try idling the engine and then spray a fine mist of water at suspected spots along the gasketed seam while listening to observe a change in rpm as a sign of leak site.

Hi Chuck,
The torque-tightening pattern is:
                                        7
                                           4
                                       3
                                           1
                                       2
                                           5
                                        6
You may want to loosen all the bolts slightly, then re-tighthen them in the order shown.
Thanks for the rating.
