Chrysler Repair: Automatic door lock: disabling, autolocks, striker

Question
Hi Roland,   I have a uk 1998 model Voyager. Could you tell me how to de-program the auto locking system to prevent the doors all locking once the car pulls away from stationery? I used to have a Jaguar which could be 'de-programmed' to prevent the operation of this feature. The system on the Voyager is driving me nuts! Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hi David,
Here is the procedure:
Close all doors
Place the ignition key in the OFF position for 20 seconds or more
Turn the ignition key to the RUN position and back to the OFF positon four times (without moving the key to the start position)
The check engine light will come on each time the key is in the run position
Press the door lock button to lock the doors
That should disable the automatic locking at 15 mph, and you can reverse it by doing the same.

If by chance you hear the doors locking frequently as you are in motion (even going under 15 mph) that may well be due to a door that is not securely latched and has been detected to be ajar. To solve that try pushing out on each of the doors to see if one of them causes the interior lights to come on, or the autolocks to cycle if in motion. Then adjust the striker on that door inward to more securely press the door against the door frame.
