Chrysler Repair: 01 PT cruiser code P0750, chrysler owners, chrysler corp

Question
I have this '01 PT Cruiser and at times it started stalling and the check engine started coming on. It also will only go up to the second speed on automatic. I did the whole scan and the P0750 code came up. I deleted it and then it worked fine for 3-4 miles but then the same thing happend. Please help me out! Thank you!

Answer
Hi Jorge,
That code says either that the low/reverse solenoid or the low/reverse pressure switch operated by that solenoid, inside the transmission, is faulty; or it may be an electrical fault related to the circuit that operates that solenoid or the output circuit of the transmission control relay may be at fault. If it is none of those, then it could be the transmission controller (computer) that is itself the cause.
It is best diagnosed with a shop-type code reading system with an accessory transmission diagnostic module. If the transmission has a large box on the side of it which faces the front of the vehicle, then inside that box is where you would find the solenoid. Otherwise, it is accessed by dropping the fluid pan and removing the bottom plate of the mechanicals inside the transmission. It does not require a 'rebuild' or removing the transmission to repair this. However, without the manual and some experience with transmissions it would be a challenge for a do-it-yourself person. I would be inclined to find a shop that does work on Chrysler Corp. transmissions and has a good reputation. A dealer with a transmission mechanic who has a good reputation and competitive hourly repair rates would be my second choice. You would need to 'ask around' to other Chrysler owners to see if you find one or more who can tell you there experience. I would not go to a nationwide franchise sort of shop as their business is to replace transmissions rather than fix them.
