Chrysler Repair: 2005 Chrysler Town & Country..., mile marker, chrysler town

Hi, I have above mentioned van and the check engine light just came on.  But it just hit 50,000 miles.  I just bought this 2 months ago and it's running great!  I reside in VA so it has been very hot here, but the temp gage is below half, on the cool side.  Do you think this is just a mile marker that the mfg'r put in there for me to spend money?  Can't I just disconnect the battery and make it go away?

there is no mile markers for Chrysler. A check engine light is not Chrysler idea its your fed governments deal for dealing with the smog and Ozone issues.   and no disconnecting the battery will make it go away for a shot time but will come back  I would have some one look at the codes and see what they are.
