Chrysler Repair: Starter Removal: 2.7L V-6 Sebring, chrysler sebring, starter solenoid

Question
QUESTION: Can you tell me how can I remove my starter on a Chrysler Sebring 2001 LXI, I looked all over and can't find the answer and don't have the money to pay the mechanic so I have to do it myself.
Thanks,

ANSWER: Hi Felix,
I assume that you have the 2.5L V-6, otherwise let me know.
You begin by removing the the - post battery wire from the remote post on the left strut tower so that it is safe to deal with the + post wire without getting a short circuit
You raise the vehicle in order to get at the starter, probably jack up the left front wheel and support body lift point on a jack stand for safety
Then remove the oil filter, catching any drips in a pan
Then remove the battery + wire from the starter motor (fat red wire)
Then pull off the connector at the starter solenoid wire
Then remove the three bolts that attach the motor to the transmission housing and remove the starter.
The installation is the reverse process.
Tighten the three bolts to 40 foot-pounds of torque.
Good luck on the process. I prefer to find a starter/generator shop to do the rebuild of my original starter rather than trade it in for a unit about which I have no history, if there is such a shop in your area.

QUESTION: No I have the 2.7L engine
2001 Chrysler Sebring
2.7L V-6 24 Valve DOHC

Answer
Hi Felix,
OK, then here are the steps for the 2.7L engine (based on its use in the LH body cars, which should be identical to the Sebring situation):
After disconnecting battery - post cable from the remote post on the left strut tower, raise the vehicle,
remove one nut on the catalytic converter support bracket.
remove two nuts from cat. conv. support bracket mounting.
remove two wire connectors from starter...the fat battery feed wire  and the posi-lock connector from the relay to the starter solenoid
remove two bolts and one nut from starter heat shield
remove three starter attaching bolts from engine/transaxle
remove starter away from transmission housing
rotate starter solenoid toward the engine block and slide rear of starter motor out between the catalytic converter and the engine mount
remove starter from vehicle
Installation is the reverse.
Please let me know how this works out for you, using the
"thank and rate" tab if you wish to do so.
