Chrysler Repair: 1991 plymouth voyager stalls, plymouth voyager, engine controller


Question
why did my car just quit on me! i was driving on the highway at about 50 mph it was putttering  and then quit on me .. i waited a minute and it started right up ran for about 5 minutes the qwuit onme the same way...i can start my car but it stay started for ma than 2 minutes before it just stops, and when it cuts off it sounds like it wants missfire or just putter outs and quits

Hi Terry,
The chances are that the engine controller will have recognized the cause and recorded it as a fault code in its memory. Use your ignition key:"On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in elapsed time of 5 seconds or less. Then watch the check engine light, which remains "on", to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to assure that you have the number of counts accurately.
Then group them in pairs in the order of appearance to form the 2-digit fault codes. Then either write back or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a list of the codes.
When you write back tell me which engine you have, and we can go from there.
