Chrysler Repair: transmission wont shift/speedo doesnt work, shaft speed, weather seal

Question
my 93 concorde wont shift from low gear, this started at the same time my speed hand stopped working ,could this be related

Answer
Hi Rod,
Yes the speedo and the transmission controller need to have a signal from the output shaft speed sensor in order to function properly. I would believe that if you replace that sensor the trans will run normally again. As you view from the driver side of the car, it is located on the side of the trans, about mid-level and to the right of the vertical shift rod, basically very close to the end of the transmission. If you lift the tab on the plug you can then release the plug from its socket. Then unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. Make sure the weather seal on the old one is transferred to the new one.  Tighten to 20 foot-pounds, about the same as for spark plug.   Reattach the electrical plug and you should have the speedo, and in all likelihood the shifting back.
