Chrysler Repair: No spark, exhaust gas recirculation valve, crank pulley

Question
I have a 95 Intrepid (3.3l) and it has no spark.  I moved relays around and checked fuses with no luck.  The computer blinks out the code "32". Any Ideas?

Answer
Hi Mike,
Make sure that you have 12V on the front pin of the ASD relay socket "B" as that should be there to power the spark coil, etc when the relay closes. It comes direct from the battery thru fuse B. If that is there, then try jumping from pin B to pin D of the socket which is what the relay is supposed to do and then see if you can start the engine, or at least get spark. If not, then I would question whether you have a bad cam or crank sensor. Try measuring the voltage pulses on each sensor while cranking the engine by hand with a ratchet on the crank pulley bolt. The voltage should change from 5 to 0.3V several times per revolution of the crank (about a dozen times for the crank sensor and 4 or 5 times for the cam), measuring between the tan/yellow and black/blue wires on the cam sensor, and dark blue/light blue and black/blue wires on the cam and crank sensor, respectively. Use a fine pin to probe through the insulation of the wire. It may be that one of those sensors is failing, but not so badly as to set a core.
The 32 is about the exhaust gas recirculation valve which can prevent idling if it is sticking open, but it won't stop spark from working. Check the valve stem nonetheless and lubricate it with WD-40 after checking whether it close all the way using the tip of a screwdriver in the slot of the stem to move the stem back and forth against the spring action which is supposed to close the valve.
Let me know what you observe, and good luck on this project.
