Chrysler Repair: 91 Acclaim headlights stay on. Is it the daytime run light module?, daytime running light, drl module

Question
Hi,
I have a problem with my 91 plymouth acclaim (canada), where the headlights stay on all the time, even when the car is turned off. I think it might be the daytime running light module (DRL).

Do you know where the DRL is located on these cars, and do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Colin,
The '91 manual shows the DRL module to be located on the left front fender inner shield. This may be in the engine compartment side or more likely the tire well, I can't be certain. But look around for a module with a single plug on the bottom whose cable goes thru a hole in inner fender up near the front of the inner fender where the headlamps are located. The plug has 10-pins and uses 7 of them. 3 are from the headlamp circuit, 1 from the distance sensor, 1 to the cluster, and 1 ground. There is no troubleshooting info. I can tell you the connections and color code assignments, so that you can trace the paths. It could be the drl module is bad, or the headlamp switch. Let me know a mailing address and I'll xerox copy the diagrams and mail them to you.

PS The DRL module is just shown as a black box. The distance sensor signal which also runs the speedo must be used as the "turn on" signal.
