Chrysler Repair: cirrus 2.5 1996 no start, crankshaft pulley, pulley bolt

Question
hi roland,
been two weeks since i got my cirrus, and the car just stop on me...
i have done preliminary check  and found out no spark.
i have check the computer code...and the only relevant is code51,lean o2 sensor...
so i decide to go check the distributor and coil...i have done continuity test as you have told in another post, and i have check the coil resistance...distributor...etc..and everythin is in specs.i have the voltage need at the 6 pin connector on the coil, but you have said in another post that the one with only 1 wire should have 12v,but is it suppose to have 12v while cranking?
another thing i have found suspicious,i have a wires connected on the black/grey on the 6 pin conector .the wire asnt been cut..only remove the plastic surrounding it and the wire is conncted on it...the wire have fail du to corrosion and i dont have a clue where it goes..is it possible thats my problem?is it a wire for the "theft alarm/"antidemarreur"?i have some doubt that it may be crankshaft or camshaft sensor malfonctionning, could you tell me how can i test those?cause in the haynes book,,i have difficulty understanding how to do it...
i have check all fuse etc..
tks for your help..i need it!
ps:sorry for my poor english!

Answer
Hi Alain,
The gray/black wire is supposed to oscillate between 12V and ground (0v) in synchrony with the rotation of the crank and cam shafts (e.g. three times for each revolution of the crankshaft). You should be able to observe this if you rotate the engine by hand using the crankshaft pulley bolt to turn it and with the ignition key in the "run" position.
If you don't get that sort of pulsing, then probably one or the other of the crank/cam sensors is not working, but you should check the signals from those sensors which should pulse in just the same way. Otherwise, the one that doesn't pulse is the cause of no spark. But if a sensor is bad you should get either an 11 (crank) or a 54 (cam) fault code by reading out the engine controller by means of the check engine light. Go "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" with your key, then count the number of flashes shown by the check engine light to see if those codes appear in that order, if present. It should end with 5 flashes, 5 flashes, which is 55, the code for end of readout. Let me know what you learn.
Merci beaucoup for the kind evaluation.
Roland
