Chrysler Repair: 1985 Chrysler 2.2L Turbo- Irratic Idle/stalling out, logic module, wd 40

Question
Problem with cold start began awhile ago.  At start engine rpm peaked at 3000, would slowly drop to 1000 then spike up to 3000 again.  This would continue until warm-up.  Now engine runs for a second then stalls.  I have cleaned the throtle body and the Idle Motor (2 wire).  I powered the Idle Motor outside the engine and the valve opened and closed by reversing polarity.  Reinstalled and no change.  Disconnecting the Grey/Red strp wire causes engine to immediatly start and run at 3000  rpm.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Answer
Hi John,
A couple of suggestions:
Have you tried to readout the engine logic module controller memory for any fault codes it may have stored? If not use your ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave it on" doing that within an elapsed time of 5 seconds or less. Watch the check engine light that will be "on" to begin to flash, pause, flash, pause, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to be sure you have an accurate count. Then combine the numbers in pairs in the order they came out to form the two-digit fault codes. The last code will always be 55 (two groups of 5 flashes each) which means "end of readout". Then write back or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a translation. I can give you the details of what to try.
Second: go to your egr valve and check to see if it might be stuck ajar. The stem is visible between the valve body and the vacuum actuator, and it has a slot into which you can insert the tip of a screwdriver to use as a lever to open the valve against the spring action. Lever it in the closed direction to see if it is closing freely and all the way. If not, spray some solvent or WD-40 on the stem and then lever the valve back and forth to free up its motion.
Let me know if either of these correct your problem.
