Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Chainsaw, carb settings, looseness

Question
Mr.John I have a poulan wood shark chainsaw Model#p3314wsa It will start but will not stay running it starts runs a minute and dies like it starving for gas can you tell the correct carb settings and maybe something else i can try thanks for any help you can give. Ronnie

Answer
Does the carb have fully adjustable mixture srcews, or do they have plastic limiter caps on them?

Generally, trying to adjust out a problem is a bad idea, but sometimes richening up the mix a tad is needed.

Normally, the mixture screws are set about 1 - 1 1/2 turns out each,
but that is not always the case.  The low speed screw is the one closest the engine block, the other is the high speed.

I would just back them out 1/2 turn each to start, also check the fuel filter and fuel lines for cracks.
If this doesn't fix it, then you will have to dis-assemble the
carb, and clean it out.  Also check the base under the carb and
engine block for looseness, that could be the problem too.
