Chrysler Repair: 1987 Chrysler new yorker power module, chrysler new yorker, engine computer

Question
After five months and $600 with one mechanic and $2,200 with another mechanic the problem still persists. It runs smooth when idling. Put it in reverse or drive it and it runs rough and stalls at times. I feel it has something to do with the power module. The mechanics never checked it or the engine computer. Was told this was a bad year for chrysler because of the turbo, they said I should get another car. At this point I can't afford another car. What are your suggestions?

Answer
I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help.  This era of car was not one I spent alot of time with and so I don't know all of the tricks and "normal" failures that this car was known for.

Do you have access to any kind of diagnostic tools like a multi-meter, spark checker, or a timing light??  Unfortunately, you'll have to spend money on tools to diagnose problems before we can even begin to put on somewhat related parts.

I realize you've spent nearly 3K on the car and it's still not fixed.  But it's going to take more money to diagnose it too even if it's with me, free, over the internet.
