Chrysler Repair: 1999 Town&Country minivan, continuity tester, haynes manual

Question
The turn signals quit working all of a sudden.I replaced the fuse and the flasher unit and the multi function switch. The auto alarm goes off sometimes when you start it.Is there a relay for the turn signals? I unplugged the multi function switch and there is power to 2 terminals.Idon't have a wiring diagram for this car.Any ideas? Thanks,John

Answer
Hi John,
I am working with the Haynes manual that covers the years 96-99 but is not specific about the '99. I am assuming that the parking lamps work, is that true? How about the emergency flasher?
You didn't mention which fuse you replaced. Was it perhaps fuse #1 (10 amp) and if not have you checked that one looking also for a subtle crack in the internal wire/testing with an ohmmeter or continuity tester? How about fuse #3 or #4 (15 amp), are those o.k.?
Italso could be a bad ground of the turn signal lever: check to see if the black wire at one of the pins of the multi-function switch is grounded.
It appears that the parking lamp relay is needed to function (be passing 12v to fuse 3 or 4 and then on to fuse 1) for the turn signals to get power, so see if 12v is present on one post of the fuse #1 socket when the ignition switch is "on". Unfortunately the circuit diagram doesn't explain what the body controller is trying to do, but it is in the circuit also (it gets 12v from fuse #1).
There are relays at the rear of the van IF you have the tow package by the way, but those seem to not involve the front turn signal circuits.
So consider those possibilities and let me know the answers to some of my questions if things still don't work out.
