Honda: 2001 prelude, honda prelude, mechanic check

Question
QUESTION: Prelude will not start when 32 degrees or colder. It runs fine above 32. What repair is needed? Thanks.

ANSWER:  I'll need a lot more information to even begin to help you. Does the engine spin over? How many miles are on the car? Is the check engine light on? Does the car have any aftermarket devises, such as an alarm? How do you get it to start, do you wait until it is above 32F?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: It is a 2001 Honda Prelude.  The engine does not spin over.  There are 92,000 miles.  The check engine light is not on. There are no aftermarket devises.  It starts when the temperature is above 32F.  My mechanic has inserted a new relay, but that did not solve the problem.  The Honda dealer said that 99% of the time the relay is the cause.

I am an original owner of the car, and I have never had this problem before.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Answer
If the car does not attempt to spin/turn over then the problem is either the starter contacts or the clutch switch. Have your mechanic check for voltage at the starter signal wire during a failure state. If it has battery voltage with the key in the cranking position then the starter is failing. If it does not have voltage , then disconnect the clutch pedal position switch and use a fused jumper wire to bypass the clutch pedal switch.
