Classic/Antique Car Repair: international scout, international scout ii, air fuel mixture

Question
i have a 1973 international scout II it starts and runs but it dies after i drive it for about a mile then it will start again but when i try to drive it keeps dying on me. can you give me an idea where to start looking for the problem?

Answer
Many possible things. Start with...

1. Fuel Filter (Maybe clogged)
2. Air Filter (If too dirty, not getting enough air)
3. Air/Fuel Mixture (may need adjusting. Spring loaded screw on carb.)
4. Carburetor (jets are clogged / dirty. Clean with carb. spray)
5. Fuel Line (could have trash in it. Blow it out)
6. Fuel Pump (could be going bad)
