Classic/Antique Car Repair: Chevrolet wiring, ss396 chevelle, neutral safety switch

Question
I have a 66 SS396 chevelle and the wires are missing for the neutral safety switch. where do the wires go to and where do they come from so I can replace them without a new wiring harness?

Answer
Two of the terminals are for the neutral start portion of the switch and two are for the back up lights. they can be identified using an ohm meter. The neutral start will close when the shifter is in neutral and park while the two terminals for the back up will show continuity when the shifter is in reverse. There should be a purple wire coming from the ignition switch. This wire usually runs from the start terminal of the ignition to the Neutral start switch. Then from the neutral start switch to the starter solenoid "S" terminal. According to my wiring diagram a dark green wire should come from the directional/back up light fuse to one side of the back up switch. A light green wire then runs to the back up lights.
