Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1966 T-Bird gas tank, exact reproduction, joyce joyce

my owners manaul as well repair shop book says the tank is 22 us gall. tank however when i go to obtain a new one they claim the exact reproduction to specs is a 16.5 gall tank i'am very confused Thanks Joyce

Joyce, you will have to ask the people reproducing the tank why that is. It could be that they say the exact reproduction is the same outside dimensions, but there could be a different way of venting the tank or the internal baffles that changes the capacity.
