Classic/Antique Car Repair: 79 bug, conv, muffler

I am looking at a 1979 conv bug, the guy is asking $5500. Is that a good price? Thanks Leah

well  is there a lot of miles on it, is the tranny good, is the oil clean, does it drive good, do the brakes  work ok , if driving straight at 40- 50 and if you let the wheel go will it stay straight , does it pull  and does it pull when you step on the brakes. is the glass good-no cracks, muffler, etc, check all things like that. if it meets with all of these things and the mileage is low-than I would say the price is ok, try to  look for some things wrong - if you find any than tell the person you will give him 5,000 or tell him it will cost you to get what ever you find wrong so ask or tell him you will give a little less in cash, feel him out.  ok
