Classic/Antique Car Repair: front end noise, lower ball joints, wheel bearings

Question
QUESTION: have 64 impala ss,just replace the front end parts, tie rod ,ball joint ect.drive and handle great.problem is when you make hard left turns it sounds like tires are rubbing on the fender ,but shows no sign of contact in either wheel well.any ideas ? thanks
ANSWER: The parts you replaced are always the first key suspect. Off set tires?
Dust shields bent?

Sometimes there might not be any sign of wear for a few miles.

Hard left, is there any shudder sound?, Not vibration because if motor mount is on it's way out sometimes that hard left will cause that sound but the vibration will dampen so you might not feel it. Maybe lower ball joints are cheap Chinese and out of round, but at this point I'M just tossing up questions.

Man its a tough question so all I could advise is always suspect the new parts, Get it up on jacks and start trouble shooting.

Good Luck and lemme know what you find out

QUESTION: mike there no shudder or vibration,I bought parts from usa1. Whats the quickest way to check the motor mounts? It did do it before, that why change ball joints, rod ends to the A frame bushing? thank for the ideas.

Answer
What about rims/tires? after market 21 inch with pimpy spinners?..lol.
Diff backspacing? because sometimes they might interfere with steering stop or do you have Originals?

Have you replaced the wheel bearings?
Checking motor mount. Put breaker bar between mount and motor and push.

Its hard to tell via e-mail, in the end you might want to take it in to alignment shop and have someone take it for test drive.
