Classic/Antique Car Repair: Mustang Radio, janik, problem thanks

Hi Tom --

I just bought a '66 Mustang with an AM/8-track unit.  Nothing happens when I turn it on -- just the light.  How do I determine if the speakers and/or antenna may be part of the problem?

Dale,
Your first step is to remove the stereo and bench test it with good working speakers. As for the antenna, you don't need the antenna plugged in to have the tape player, play if working! After you have the radio hooked up to a 12 volt bench power supply and speakers and antenna connected, you will have a good idea if the radio is working or not.
