Dodge Repair: 98 Dodge ignition switch and cylinder, dodge stratus, lock smith

Question
Kevin, I want to attempt to replace the ignition switch and cylinder in my 98 Dodge Stratus. It locks up on my fromm time to time. Single mom. Can't afford a mech. Please help with instructions.  Thanks

Answer
U dont need the switch just the key cyl. Remove the cover to the steering area  2 or 3 screws. put the key in the ign and turn it to the run pos dont start it.There is a little button made out of metal on the bottom half where the ign cyl housing is at u press it and pull the key and cly out as one. From there u will need to pay attention to which side u take out the tumblers so they go back in the same side and order. Or u might want to pay a lock smith to do this part for u but u will need to do that quick because your car will still be on and kill the battery.
