Ford Repair: tranny wont shift, d light, unfortunatley

i have a2000 xlt lariat 4.6.it will not shift out of 2nd gear. the od light is flashing.have changed the shift solenoids made no difference. was told the nss could cause this problem.dont know what else to try .had the wire harness checked for chafing nothing was found. also was told there could be a broken band in the tranny.

you will need to take the vehicle to a shop that an scan the computer. the o.d light leaves a code in the p.c.m.-- from what your saying though, you are having a problem with your dirct clutch- that is third gear one to one with the engine... have you tried to google this concern ??? unfortunatley, because the light is flashing, without knowing the code- could be electrical/mechanical. should you get it scanned and a code. get back to me
