is a 97mustang gt better than a 99 mustang gt? what will be easier to work on to upgrade speed(price of) which could i make fast as a cobra?

  I'd go with the '99 if power is your goal.  The '99s had more powerful engine and they were a little better built.  The power difference isn't huge, but it's there.  Both are pretty expensive to modify since parts for modular (4.6L) engines are still relatively new.  Both cars share the same engines, just different specs.  Hope this helps.
