Ford Repair: 86 Ranger fuel filter replacement, fuel filter replacement, schraeder valve

Question
I crawled under my truck to replace the fuel filter and there is a label that says,  Caution, Fuel system under pressure.   How do I relieve the pressure in order to change the filter?    Thanks,  Steve H.    PS. I find it interesting that your name is similar to mine!  What is your last name if you don t mind my asking?  Again thanks.

Answer
Steve-

You'll need to release the fuel pressure via a schraeder valve (like the valves on tires) that should be located on or near the fuel rail (that log-looking piece of metal above your fuel injectors).  Take a rage and a wrench, cover the valve with the rag so fuel doesn't spray everywhere, and then release the pressure.  Once the pressure is released you can close the valve and get to work.

Oh...and my last name is Heininger.  Hope this helps.
