Ford Repair: Dash lights out & idles highwhen the a/c is on., car fuse, dash lights

Question
Hi Dennis, i have a 2000 Taurus se. My dash lights do not work at all anymore. I've turned the switch and nothing happens. My climate control lights have gone out also.  All the fuses are good. Are there any bulbs? The milage & odometer stopped working as well. I can't remember what ford said i needed because when they said it would cost $689 to fix it blew mw away. Also when i turn on the a/c the car idles between 2000-3000 rpm for bout 10 sec and then returns to normal and repeats. Can you please help me out before I spend way too much?  thanx so much!

Answer
Is there anything else not working? There is a fuse under the hood, F101, that supplies voltage to the in-car fuse for these lights. The in-car fuse is F229. If it is not either of these it could be a headlight switch, or if you have autolamps there are other components involved. Yes there a bulbs, but they wouldn't all go out at once.

As far as the ac idle concern, have it checked for codes first.
