Ford Repair: Thermostat ??, blown head gasket, radiator hose

Question
My 1996 Ford T-Bird is overheating every time I drive it, ever since getting the serpentine belt replaced.  I have checked all the hoses and none are damaged or leaking. I would like to check the thermostat but do not know exactly where it is... Are there any sure ways to know if it needs replacing?  Also, the car has overheated a few times now...as well as when the serpentine belt failed...How can I know if the head gasket is blown?

Answer
The thermostat is located near the engine, where the top radiator hose connects. But in order to replace the thermo you need to drain some coolant from the engine. If your not getting heat in the vehicle, you could have a bad thermostat. If like you say if the vehicle overheats, it could be dirty coolant, timing off, radiator fan not working, just a few things here. If the head gasket is blown normally you will get coolant in your oil, if you notice the vehicle, smokes alot, white smoke, then you have a blown head gasket... Thanks
