Ford Repair: Ford Radio and the display not working., radio repair shop, ford radio

Question
Hi, Robert

I have a 98 Ford Explorer SUV with an OEM radio.  About 3 years after the car was purchased new, the display on the radio stopped working.   I talked to a rep at a local radio repair shop and he said it's a common problem.  To fix it would cost $150.

Aside from buying another radio, is there a simple and/or inexpensive fix for the problem?

Your thoughts on the matter would certainly be appreciated.

Answer
Fast Eddie,
Yes, they are a common problem either the display burns out or the system quits working all together. For less then $150 dollars you could purchase another radio, and install it yourself. This way you wont have this problem again.. Thankyou..
