Ford Repair: Power Steering Ford Taurus 1999 Model, ford taurus, power steering fluid

Question
Turning into work this morning, left turn became very tight, and noisy, steering felt hardened.
Is the Taurus a one belt system? and what is the likely cause. Fluid? and if so what is the best fluid to use.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would check the power steering fluid level and condition. Your owner's manual should tell you what type of fluid to use and the level dip stick should tell you how much. The engine is either one or two belts. You haven't tld me if it is a 3.0L, 3.8L, so I can't say. Your best bet is to open the hood and look at the engine.
