Ford Repair: Ford fuel problem?, fuel pressure gage, fuel filters

Question
2000 Focus, auto,4 door, 50k Miles. I have 2 problems seem to be related.....After driving 15 minutes and stopping for a light, while waiting, there is a stutter,(hiccup) with engine....When on freeway doing 50 or so and wanting to increase speed,I must hit gas pedal rapidly 5-6 times to accelerate and then car will lurch up to desired increase...Feels as if fuel system is not getting enough gas.Had fuel pump put in 3 months ago, but no help. Are injectors clogged? Any help will be appreciated.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question....I'll try to help.
I wouldn't say the fuel injectors are clogged. Only because THAT would be a constant and would cause problems at all times. Your problem seems to come at certain times.
What I would suggest is that you put a fuel pressure gage on the engine to verify fuel pressure(at idle, and under load).
Next I would see if the engine is correctly tuned up. Spark plugs, wires, air and fuel filters.
Last, I would have the computer system looked in to and checked over, to see if any codes have been stored.
Hope this helps,
Erik
