Honda Repair: 97 civic engine. HELPPPP/PLEASE RESPOND CIVIC EXPERTS, d16y7, series engines

i have a 97 honda civic with a engine model D16Y7 that threw a
rod through the short block and oil pan, the vin number
registers the car to be a vtec e with the 6th digit being a 7.
not sure on what kind of motor to replace it with, please
help.

Sergio, so you plan on purchasing the short block or long block complete engine? Whichever if you want a no hassle install look for any 'D' series engine 1.6L from 1996 to 2000. You can also use most 1.6L D series engines from 1992 to 1995 as well.
