Honda Repair: 2001 Honda Civic EX 4cyl Automatic Ignition issue, automatic door locks, honda civic ex

Question
I own a 2001 Honda Civic EX 4 Cyl. Automatic.  It seemed to be running without any issues until I parked it today, and went to restart the car within several minutes and it wouldn't start.  I turn the key in the ignition, but it doesn't sound like the car even tries to turn the engine.  The dials on my dash flutter and all the warning lights turn on and flicker.  There also seems to be a clicking sound coming from the left side of the engine from within the car, and the gear-shift.  If I leave the key in the ON position for a little while, the lights gradually turn off and the car settles.  Applying pressure to the brakes while the car is on causes all the previously listed activity.  Also, the transmission is locked into park, and I can't even pull it back into neutral.  I had been experiencing a stutter in my wiper-blades for several weeks which I assumed meant I just needed to replace them, but I wonder if this might not also be related if it is some sort of electrical issue.  Oh, and my remote and automatic door locks are also nonfunctional.  I'd appreciate any light you could shed on this issue.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Zachary, your answer is have the battery checked. This is the answer to the symptoms you are having. Also have the starter and alternator checked too. This should be a free check. Jump start or put a charger on the battery and drive it to an Electrical specialties shop or the Honda dealer. Do not turn your car off because you will be stranded and will need a jump start again to get going. Let me know if this helps...
