Honda Repair: 2004 honda civic hybrid gas mileage, honda civic hybrid, mileage indicator

I bought a brand new 2004 honda civic hybrid a year ago and I'm only getting 24 miles per gallon according to the gas mileage indicator on the dash.  The dealer told me it would get around 47 miles per gallon.  What do you think the problem is and what should I do about it?

Has the mileage dropped off recently? If it has I would get it into the dealer and have them look at it. I don't have any experience with these cars, but I have several Honda's and they all get better gas mileage then you are getting. I would go back into the dealer and find out if this is normal, which I would think it is not. If they say it is, then I would ask to drive another hybrid for a day or two and see if it performs the same way.
