Hyundai Repair: 2001 Sonata fuel lines, impact gun, rubber line

Question
I have 2001 Sonata V6 fuel line issue.  The steel/rubber line is leaking.  This line runs fuel from the hard metal line under the car to the fuel injector rail.  I was able to disconnect this line from the injector rail as it was just two nuts on two studs.  However, the connection between this line and the metal line seems to be a normal screw in connection (19mm and 14mm sizes) but it will not break loose.  I called the dealership and they say its a special tool to remove this connection - is this true - and if so where can I get the tool?

Answer
Hi, Joe.  These aren't what we typically call special tools in the sense that they're not special for this specific vehicle.  They're special wrenches in the sense that they're made specifically for loosening hose/pipe nuts.  Rather than your typical open-end wrench with just one side, they're made such that they contact four sides of the nut and have a small opening for slipping the wrench over the pipe or line.  They're called line wrenches.  You should be able to find them at Sears or other tool supply store.

Sometimes, I've been unable to break the nut loose even using line wrenches.  In these cases, since I'm replacing the fuel line anyway, I simply cut the rubber hose off as close to the nut as I can.  I then use a wrench to hold the nut on the line and use my impact gun to break loose the nut that was attached to the hose.  I've had very good luck with this method not damaging the fuel line as long as the wrench on the line is solidly up against something preventing the impact gun from turning the line, too.
