Hyundai Repair: 96 hyandai excel manual, coolant temperature sensor, throttle position sensor

Question
high my excel is idileing high and check engine light is what do you think could be the prob thanks ht

Answer
As always, the first thing I recommend in a case where the check engine lamp is on is to read the stored diagnostic trouble codes.  This will invariably be a time-saver, as it will tell you something about what the computer sees that is abnormal.  If you can have the trouble codes read somewhere, report them (the numerical codes themselves) back to me and I'll advise you as to what they mean and advise on how to go about diagnosing and repairing the issue.

As for potential problems, the following top my list of suspicions:
1.  Large vacuum leak (such as the PCV hose).
2.  Faulty throttle position sensor.
3.  Faulty coolant temperature sensor.
4.  Faulty idle actuator.

Note that the above answers presume you have electronic fuel injection on your vehicle.  As I'm not familiar with what's offered in Australian models, this may not be the case.
