Hyundai Repair: will not start, coolant temperature sensor, air flow sensor

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2003 tiburon gt with the 2.7 engine auto. it will not start it has spark it has fuel and the injectors are firing the compression is good on the front cylinders i did not check the back cylinders. What could be the issue that i am having.

ANSWER: You've already performed most of the preliminary checks.

You might be suspicious of things that could cause faulty fuel mixture such as a defective coolant temperature sensor or air flow sensor.  Or you could have contaminated fuel.  If you have access to a code reader, it'd be a good idea to check to see if there are any stored diagnostic trouble codes.

What were the circumstances leading up to the problem?  Did the engine simply not start one day, or did it occur when driving?  Were there other symptoms leading up to the problem?  Does the engine crank normally, slow, or fast?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: it just quit while driving it was like i turned the key off. i checked for trouble codes and it had none stored. there were no issues that happen before this the check engine light never came on prior to this happening. when i plugged the engine in to retrieve the codes it would not communicate with the car.

Answer
Lack of communication suggests you may have an ECM or crank sensor issue or that the timing belt has broken or stripped.

Does the check engine lamp illuminate when the key is turned to the on position?

How did you verify spark, fuel, and injector operation?

Does the engine crank normally, slowly, or quickly?

Did you check to see whether the timing belt is in good condition and the camshafts are timed properly?
