Hyundai Repair: Santa fe faulty idler bearing, hyundai repair, commercial garage

Question
Hi there,
Quick question about a recent breakdown I had with my Santa fe commercial. Garage told me an idler bearing had collapsed causing timing belt to go. Jeep only has 49,000 miles on it but is 3years 5months old. Even though Im just passed the 3year warrantee, do I have any comeback against the faulty bearing. Seem way to soon for this to fail...?

Thanks,

Dave.

Answer
While it's true that the life expectancy of most pulley bearings is much greater than 3.5 years and 49,000 miles, Hyundai is under no obligation to repair anything that fails outside the warranty period.  The best you'll ever be able to do is ask Hyundai if they'll offer any assistance on repair.  If you're not at a Hyundai repair facility, the chances of receiving assistance are close to zero.
