Hyundai Repair: 2001 Hyundai accent GL, camshaft position sensor, camshaft timing

Question
I was driving my car yesterday and all of a sudden it just died out and now it will not start. The engine does crank like its trying to start and I do have spark on the plugs when trying to start. I did the engine code read and I got code P0343 & P0441 I did a reset and code P0441 is no longer there, But the car still will not start. What should I do to fix my car ASAP?

Answer
P0441 indicates abnormal flow through the purge control valve.  In every instance I've seen this code, the purge control valve was the problem (usually stuck open).  This code did not return because the engine must be running for the engine control module (ECM) to run its self diagnosis for proper purge control operation.  Unfortunately, a faulty purge control valve won't make the engine not run, so this problem is in addition to your other problem.

P0343 indicates that there have been too many engine revolutions without a signal from the camshaft position sensor.  A faulty camshaft postition sensor won't make the car run, so I'd suspect that your timing belt may be stripped, causing the camshaft to not turn.  Start by checking your camshaft timing.  If the timing is off, you can take that as sufficient evidence that the timing belt has stripped.  If that has occurred, you probably also have internal engine damage (bent valves).
