Hyundai Repair: 2000 Hyundai, power steering fluid, engine control module ecm

Question
While driving I hear a noises as I turned my steering wheel, then the car started spuddering. Then I gave it more gas but took it several seconds before it picked up speed.  I did fukk the power steering fluid tank and haven't heard any noises but I'm concerned that the car may stop.

Answer
If your power steering fluid was low, you should check for leaks.  Low fluid will tend to cause a humming noise when the wheel is turned and if low enough, will cause difficult steering.

Low power steering fluid will not, however, make the engine run poorly.  Since you say the engine was sputtering, I suspect you had a misfire at the time.  Most misfires are caused by secondary ignition components, so I'd recommend you check your spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil(s).  You may also wish to check to see if there are any diagnostic trouble codes stored in the engine control module (ECM).  If the ECM noticed the misfire, there should be a code stored that will tell you which cylinder was misfiring.
